A violent robbery at a Concord Pike motel was caught on surveillance tape and police are appealing to the public for help in identifying the two suspects.

Police say a Florida couple had been staying at the Days Inn for several days in June before one night going across the street to the Brandywine Towne Center to catch a movie on June 23.
When they returned to their room (#138) just before 10:30 p.m., they were unable to open their door. That's because, police said, two men had jammed the key slot while they were out, preparing to rob them.

As the couple, both in their 50s, struggled with the door, the two men ran up behind the victims and beat them until they fell to the ground, police say, then one of the men dragged the wife while beating her with a blunt object. The second man beat the husband before taking his wallet.

The two men immediately drove to the Wawa on Carpenter’s Station Road where they used the victim's credit card, police said.

The incident was caught on tape and investigators are urging the public to view the video in hopes someone in the community will recognize the men.

Both men are black and believed to be in their mid-20s and about 5'8" tall. One was dressed in all black, while the other was wearing a white t-shirt, a baseball cap, white shoes and long jean shorts.

The victims, who were injured, refused medical treatment.

Anyone with information is asked to call (302) 834-2630 ext. 6 or Crime Stoppers at (800) TIP-3333.
