The head of New Castle County’s Land Use Department could soon be leaving the government.

Charles Baker e-mailed other department general managers and council members last Thursday to tell them that he had been offered a job in Vermont that he intends to take if he is able to sell his house.

The e-mail suggests that rumors had been circulating throughout the county that he had resigned.

County Communications Director C.R. McLeod told the Community News that Baker did not want to comment before formally resigning.

Baker wrote in the e-mail that he grew up in Saratoga Springs, NY and vacations at Lake George and has always wanted to relocate to that area.
