Chris Beattie, of Hockessin, races his two sons, Ryan (left) and Christian (right) across the finish line of Dover International Speedway (right) during the Arthritis Walk's "Speed the Way to A Cure" on April 26. A team of 12 people from Hockessin participated in the event, an annual fundraiser for the Arthritis Foundation Delaware Branch.
The event included a 5K, which is three laps around the speedway. Walkers could also choose a one- or two-mile option.
During the festivities, which also included children's activities, a tire change challenge and race car simulator, 20-month old Rai Kahlon sits in the seat of Monster Racing Excitement's #95 Lightning McQueen car (below right). He came with his father, Dr. Randreep Kahlon of First State Orthopaedics, which hosted a booth at the event. Kahlon is also president of the New Castle County Medical Society.
