Department of Safety and Homeland Security Secretary David B. Mitchell issued a statement on Aug. 21 regarding the suspension of two Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement (DATE) employees. DATE Director Daniel Kline and DATE Supervisor Agent Michael Downs have been suspended with pay as a result of a complaint involving serious impropriety.

Capable leadership is in place and has been previously utilized to cover short term absences. DATE will continue to move forward with its daily operations.
