GEORGETOWN, DEL. —

On Monday, October 20, Sussex Central High School will host its annual Powder Puff football game pitting the senior girls (Class of 2009) against the junior girls (Class of 2010). Game time is 7:00 p.m.

The Class of 2009 is out to defend its title after a 44-14 victory over the Class of 2008 in last year's game. The senior Class of 2009 returns all of its players from last year's squad and is looking for bigger and better things this year.

“The juniors have no chance,” said Shawna Stong, last year's game MVP. “They know we are faster, stronger and overall more talented.”

Senior class advisor and teacher John Thompson echoed Shawna’s statement, “The game shouldn’t even be close.”

The Powder Puff game is an annual event at Sussex Central High School and a crowd of between 500 and 1,000 fans is expected. Tickets are $3 at the gate and will go on sale starting at 6:30 p.m.
