The Piedmont under-18 baseball team won the 2008 Riptide RumbleSports championship held at Sports at the Beach in Georgetown earlier this autumn.

Piedmont was also led offensively in the tournament by Fielding Wooters (.667 avg. 5 runs), Tyler Husfelt (.583 avg., 4 RBI) and Matt Farr (4 RBI). The team was seeded third after the preliminary rounds and swept through the semi-finals and finals, beating the Tri State Arsenal 15-8 in the final game.
Pitchers Shawn Cowgill, Matt Joyce, Kyle Richter, and Jimmy Marshallsea combined for the three wins with Joyce (1-0, 0.00 ERA) and Richter (1-0 0.22 ERA) each throwing complete games. Jimmy Marshallsea also contributed with a walk off single in the semi-final game against the Maryland Red Dogs 2-1.
