Delaware law enforcement officers participating in a statewide DUI mobilization during the NFL Playoff games arrested two people for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
This brings the total number of DUI arrests for the first three weeks of the initiative, coordinated by the Office of Highway Safety, to 12, spokeswoman Andrea Summers said.
Officers from the 23 participating state and municipal police agencies also issued seven citations for seat belt violations, two for child restraint violations, apprehended two wanted individuals and issued 173 citations for other traffic violations.
Throughout January, state, county, and municipal law enforcement agencies have been conducting saturation patrols on Saturdays and Sundays during the NFL playoff season. Additional saturation patrols will be scheduled for Super Bowl Sunday along with a sobriety checkpoint to be conducted by the New Castle County DUI Task Force.
