The Community News, in cooperation with the Greater Hockessin Area Development Association, will hold a candidates forum August 18, and wants you – our reader – to submit questions.
The forum will highlight four high-profile primaries that will be decided by voter on September 9. Invited candidates include County Executive Chris Coons, who is running for a second term and former executive Tom Gordon, who is seeking to reclaim the county’s top job, which he held from 1997-2004. Both are Democrats.
Also invited are the Democratic candidates for New Castle County Council President, incumbent Paul Clark and challenger William Dunn.
At the state level, all five candidates from a crowded field in the 4th Senate District are invited. Rich Abbott, John Clatworthy and Michael Fleming are vying for the Republican nomination in the district, while Dee Durham and Michael Katz are running on the Democratic side.
John Mackenzie and Mike Terranova, Democrats running to challenge incumbent Liane Sorenson in the 6th Senate District, are also invited to participate.
The forum will be held at the Hockessin Memorial Hall at 7 p.m. Each candidate will have two minutes to answer questions the Community News selects from those submitted by readers. Time permitting questions will be taken from the floor. At the end of the forum, each candidate will have three minutes to make closing remarks.
Readers have until Saturday, August 16 at noon to submit their questions, and can do so by emailing them to editor@communitypub.com.
