Acting on a tip, agents with the Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement sought charges against two New York men last week, accusing them of illegally transporting alcohol across state lines.
Fang Zheng, 32, and Gen Fa Ma, 54, both of New York, were each charged with illegal transportation of alcoholic liquor and conspiracy after a traffic stop on Thursday, Jan. 26 along Route 40 in Newark. The two were being held at the Howard Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $3,460 each.
It was unclear who was driving, but a citation was issued for driving with inoperable brake lights.
DATE agents and the Delaware State police made the stop, which yielded 168 cases of alcohol, including an assortment of beer and wine, a small amount of cash and the truck. Investigators learned that the two men allegedly were headed to New York to sell the products, valued at $4,500.
