Police arrested a Newark man this weekend after a high speed chase led to a three car accident in Bear.

Newark resident Reginald E. Brown, 37, faces several charges, including driving under the influence of drugs, possession of crack cocaine, and resisting arrest, after he allegedly fled from police in a stolen vehicle on Saturday, Jan. 28, according to a Delaware State Police news release.

Police say Brown led them on a high-speed chase from Rivers End Road to Route 7, after fleeing from a trooper who attempted to pull him over for allegedly driving a stolen 98 Suzuki X-90 SUV.

Brown made it to Freedom Road, near the Route 7 intersection, where he weaved in and out of traffic stopped for a red light, according to the release.

When an officer arrived at the intersection, a 2004 Nissan Murano traveling southbound on Delaware 7 reportedly hit the front of his cruiser and then veered right, rear ending a 2007 Dodge Magnum. The Murano landed in the yard of a home located in the southwest corner of the intersection.

Brown finally stopped the vehicle, but refused to cooperate with police, according to the release.

Troopers say Brown continued to fight them after they forcibly removed him from the vehicle, necessitating the use of a Taser.

An ambulance transported Brown to the Christiana Hospital for evaluation. He was then taken to HRYCI in lieu of a $16,089 secured bond.
