Delaware’s chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) recently announced its board of directors for 2008-2009.
The board includes: Devona Williams, president; Brenda Thompson, president elect; Mary Anne Murray, treasurer; Carol Arnott, immediate past president; Carla Withers, director of public policy; Sandra Slemko, director of membership; Dolores Malek, director of programming; Joanne Owens, marketing and communications chair; and Karen Burton and Diane Laird, corporate partners and economic development co-chairs.
The Delaware chapter also named Ellen Barrosse Business Owner of the Year, Jay Burkes Pioneer of the Year and Alison Houck Bridge Builder of the Year. Charles Gillean of AstraZeneca, Betty Silfa of Citibank and Mary Anne Murray of Griswold Special Care were named this year’s corporate partners and Eric Ruth, of The News Journal, was named Media Partner of the Year.
The Delaware chapter of NAWBO, founded in 2000, seeks to promote economic development and encourage positive change in business.
“NAWBO represents more than ten million women-owned businesses nationwide, a vital growing part of our economy,” said Devona Williams. “With our resources, and working along with our strategic partners, we can continue to grow our businesses, both nationally and on a local level.”
