Sheldon Edwards has been a member of Freemasonry since 1959. Last month, the 50-year member earned the title 33° of Scottish Rite Freemason by election. It is an honorary degree and should never be requested or expected. It is usually bestowed for exemplary action and conduct in the community, state, country and Masonic organizations. Here’s what he has to say.

Q: What is your single biggest day-to-day challenge?
A: Doing what I know needs to be done.

Q: What is the best advice you’ve gotten?
