This month Safeway and Easter Seals launched the grocery retailer’s 25th annual fundraising campaign for people with disabilities.
As a leading employer of people with disabilities, Safeway is committed to spreading the message that individuals with autism and other disabilities are valued members of the workforce. The month-long fundraising campaign will help provide life-changing services to Easter Seals program participants.
“Safeway carefully evaluates its charitable partners – and Easter Seals is the best in its class at doing things efficiently so that the dollars raised directly benefit clients served by the organization,” said Larree Renda, an executive vice president of Safeway Inc. and chair of the Safeway Foundation.
Easter Seals offers a range of services, including outpatient rehabilitation therapy, early intervention services for children, day services for adults with physical disabilities and cognitive disabilities and assistive technology services to increase the functional capabilities of people with disabilities.
Each April, Safeway stores raise funds to help children and adults with disabilities by asking shoppers at checkout to donate to Easter Seals, the largest non-profit provider of disability services nationwide. Safeway has raised over $110 million nationally for Easter Seals in last 25 years.
“We sincerely appreciate Safeway for organizing this campaign for Easter Seals and raising money to help promote our mission to find solutions for independence no matter the person’s age or ability,” said Bill Adami, President/CEO of Easter Seals Delaware and Maryland’s Eastern Shore. “In the last 5 years Safeway has raised over $94,000 locally to help people with disabilities.”
