A man who tried to steal medication from a Wilmington ShopRite injured a store employee while escaping on Wednesday, Jan. 27, according to Delaware State Police.

Police said the man entered the 1300 Rocky Run Parkway ShopRite at 1:52 p.m. and put two boxes of over-the-counter medication under his jacket. Store loss prevention officers confronted the man and recovered the medication. While they were escorting him to their office, the man pushed a 70-year-old store employee, who fell and hit her head on the floor, police said. The man ran away.

The employee had a bruise to the back of her head, police said.
