A woman was charged with drunk driving after causing a four-car accident in Brandywine on Friday, Jan. 29, Delaware State Police said.
Mary Margrave, 22, of Wilmington, lost control of her Nissan Sentra while driving north on I-95 near Silverside Road at 12:13 a.m., police said. Her car went off the road and hit an embankment before stopping in the northbound lanes, police said, setting off a chain of events that ended with people from four vehicles being taken to Christiana Hospital.
First, Chad Allen Long, 23, of Wilmington, hit Margrave's car in the road. Driving a minivan, Jag Jiwan Singh, 61, of Upper Darby, Pa., also hit Margrave's car and Elizabeth Riccardi, 58, of Wilmington, hit Singh's minivan, police said.
People from all four vehicles are treated for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Alcohol was considered a factor in this crash and Margavage was charged with DUI along with improper lane change and no proof of insurance, police said.
