University of Delaware’s New Castle County Cooperative Extension held graduation for the class of 2009 New Castle County Delaware Master Gardener Volunteer Educators.

Thirty Master Gardener graduates successfully completed a three-month training session that translated into 72 hours of horticultural course work. They trained as apprentices in the following Master Gardener Volunteer committees: Youth Education, Workshops, Expert Eye, and Telephone/Diagnostics. Finally, they must complete 40 hours of volunteer service in New Castle County prior to the first of the year.

The graduating class included:

• Landenberg residents - Iain Adamson, Betsy Rosenberger
• Middletown residents - Jane Adams, Janet Mitchell
• Milford resident - Elaine Morris
• New Castle residents - Mary Fontinha, Thomas Maddux
• Newark residents - Kristina Bates, Rebecca Christie, Joseph Corsello, Susan Foster, Demaris Hollembeak, Jean Lantz, Laurie Miriello, David Shaw, Gail Tentor, Bettie von Frankenberg, Cornelia Weil, J.W. Wistermayer
• Oxford resident - Jane Murphy
• Warwick resident - Jack Little
• Wilmington residents - Dan Antal, Richard Heiss, Stephen Johnson, Henry Law, Douglas Lloyd, Ellen Pell, Misao Walck.
