Edgemoor Gardens, which over the years has faced its share of problems, celebrated a new beginning Saturday with the opening of the Edgemoor Resource House.
Designed to offer the community's children an alternative to the streets, the house offers a computer lab, a family therapist, a homework room and a kitchen that will promote healthy eating.
The rehab of the 1950s-era row home was made possible by $146,000 in federal pass through money awarded to the project by New Castle County, as well as the hard work of dozens of volunteers and the donation of furniture and appliances by several local businesses.
