It was only 18 months ago that Council Chambers were filled with concerned Pike Creek residents who vehemently opposed the rezoning of the Naudain farm at Limestone and Paper Mill roads, where a town home community was being proposed.
Despite concerns over drainage and traffic issues on Paper Mill, council voted 7-6 to allow the rezoning, thus clearing the way for the 64-unit Traditions at Pike Creek which council is expected to approve this week.
Last Tuesday, the developer reviewed the plan in front of New Castle County's Land Use committee and not a single resident spoke in opposition.
Attorney Shawn Tucker speculated that their major concern - over a proposed access road onto Paper Mill Road - had been addressed. Since the rezoning, Tucker said an agreement was reached with a neighboring property owner for the neighborhood's entrance to be located along Limestone Road, something even traffic engineers felt was preferable.
The current plan calls for 64 two-story town home/condominium units on 26 acres.
