New Castle County’s three community yard waste demonstration sites will temporarily close so yard waste can be ground into mulch.
The Polly Drummond Hill site will close August 13 -19. The Brandywine Hundred site will close August 25 - September 1, reopening September 5. The DART Mid-County site in Bear will close once grinding is complete in Brandywine Hundred. The date will be announced on the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control’s website.
Once grinding is complete, all three sites will have free mulch available, which residents can pick up using their own shovels and containers during open hours: Brandywine Hundred, Saturday and Sunday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Polly Drummond Hill and Mid-County, every day 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
