The DART mid-county and Polly Drummond yard waste sites will close temporarily for maintenance later this month while the Brandywine Hundred site will close permanently at the end of the month.
The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control’s mid-county site is scheduled to close from Monday, June 21 through Friday, June 25, and from Monday, June 28 through Friday, July 2, for maintenance, which includes turning yard waste into free mulch. The site is at 1423 South Dupont Hwy in New Castle.
It will be open Saturday and Sunday, June 26 and 27 and return to its regular schedule on Saturday, July 3.
DNREC’s Polly Drummond Hill Yard Waste Demonstration Site will close from Monday, June 7 through Friday, June 11, and from Monday, June 14 through Friday, June 18, for maintenance. The site is off Polly Drummond Hill Road, about a 1⁄2 mile north of the Kirkwood Highway near Newark.
The site will be open Saturday and Sunday, June 12 and 13, and return to its regular schedule on Saturday, June 19.
The Brandywine Hundred yard waste site, on the north side of Cauffiel Parkway, will close permanently June 27 after three years of operation. DNREC is actively negotiating for a more suitable location in the same vicinity that will enable continued yard waste drop-off opportunity and recycling for residents.
While DNREC negotiates for securing another yard waste drop off site, residents who use the Brandywine Hundred site may in the interim take their yard waste to one of the following sites:
