The Delaware Department of Transportation’s Signal Construction staff and Byer’s Electrical and Sam’s Construction will begin construction at the intersection of Route 2 and Hazel Avenue in the town of Elsmere beginning on Monday, July 12.

This project will involve the installation of a countdown pedestrian signal and American Disabilities Act curb ramps, crosswalks, and modifications to the existing traffic signal.

The intermittent lane closures will be restricted to the hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Motorists should expect traffic shifts and delays at the intersection.  Pedestrian detours will be in place due to the sidewalk closures in this area. The duration of the construction is expected to be approximately three to four weeks.
