A large group of brown pelicans suffering from frostbite were found in southern Maryland and will go to Tri-State Bird Rescue & Research’s rehabilitation center in Newark.

Because the pelicans failed to migrate to warmer climates prior to the winter the birds are suffering from frostbite and possible starvation. Because pelicans consume large amounts of herring, properly caring for these birds is expected to be a costly project.

To donate, call 302-737-9543, visit tristatebird.org or visit Tri-State at 110 Possum Hollow Rd, Newark, DE 19711 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
