Red Clay ’09 budget increases by 3.9 percent, cash balance up

The Red Clay Consolidated School District has a preliminary budget in place for the 2009 fiscal year that increases spending by 3.9 percent to $160. 6 million, while revenues are expected to be up 7.9 percent to $167 million.


Canby Park purse snatcher gains nothing but trouble

A woman had her purse stolen in Canby Park near Elsmere August 19 at 11 p.m.  The 46-year-old victim was walking along Maryland Avenue when she was approached by a man who grabbed her purse containing $15 and fled east, according to Delaware State Police.

Paraprofessionals and secretaries in the Christina School District both have three-year contracts in place, retroactive to 2007. But they will not get raises similar to the three-year deal that was made with teachers earlier this summer.
