The agencies who believe that the present attempt to nationalize health care would “enact restrictive laws and regulations that result in additional barriers to women seeking healthcare” do not mention the psychological, emotional, physical and even spiritual toll that abortion takes on a woman who has to “choose.”
As a maternity home social worker I witnessed tough decisions pregnant women made to either keep their child or place the baby for adoption. Many shared stories of past abortion experiences and why they were “choosing” to carry this child to term. Not one of them freely “chose” to terminate their pregnancy. Lack of support from a spouse, significant other or parents as well as financial, housing or educational issues forced their decision. However, while experiencing another unplanned or crisis pregnancy they realized that it was a child within them – a complete but unseen human being.
The organizations described as “anti-choice” are the ones presently offering pregnant women opportunities and support necessary to parent their child responsibly, or help with adoption…at no cost to the birth mother, and with none of the devastation that abortion eventually causes.
Over 45 million preborn U.S. citizens are disposed of every year through abortion. This travesty is tolerated and promoted because of the 1973 Supreme Court ruling… a ruling many legal experts have since judged as poor lawmaking. Remember – the travesty of slavery was tolerated and promoted because it was “legal” until the 13th Constitutional Amendment ended it in 1865. Slavery was easy money for the owners under the guise of being “legal.” Abortion is easy money for those who promote, provide and want it to be covered by insurance under the guise of its being “a medical procedure.” Abortion is not healthcare no matter how it is paid for.
