The Delaware State Police are investigating a July 4 robbery of a Stanton convenience store.

Police say a man walked into the Limestone Road 7-Eleven just before midnight, pulled a handgun from his pocket and hit the clerk on the side of the face with the gun. The suspect then reached over the counter and removed money from the register before fleeing the store.

The clerk sustained some swelling to his face, but was not hospitalized.

While Troopers were on the scene at the 7-Eleven, a pizza delivery driver entered the store and told police he had just been robbed on Windemere Lane, which is across from Stanton Middle School and less than a mile from the store. New Castle County Police are investigating that robbery, but the driver's description was very similar to the clerk's description of the man who robbed him.

The suspect is described as white or possibly Hispanic, between 23 and 28 years old, and about 5'10" and 170 pounds. He had short brown hair, and was wearing a dark gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and white sneakers.
