Brandywine Hundred, Del. —

As part of National Respect Life month, Delaware Right to Life held a Life Chain demonstration along Concord Pike in Brandywine Hundred.

It was one of four Life Chain events statewide, which included one in front of the Planned Parenthood on Governor’s Avenue in Kent County, on Rte. 1 by St. Jude’s in Lewes, and one in South Bethany on Highway 1.

"We're just trying to get people to see that abortion's wrong,” said Steve Girone, one of the 30 that attended the Concord Pike event. “We're trying to save babies; we're hoping to change people's minds."

Vince Fritton, who came to the demonstration with his family, said he feels very strongly that all life is precious.

"People like my son and [fellow demonstrator] Judy [Aungst]'s brother, who died two weeks ago with Down’s Syndrome, even though they have birth defects, add value to the world,” said Fritton. “The pro-life movement isn't about taking away a woman's right to choose, it's about respecting all life and understanding that everyone has value as a human being. Sometimes things come into your life that are difficult but in reality are blessings."

There was no negative response during the Brandywine Hundred protest, he said.
