Finding a job that’s a perfect fit can be a challenge in the bets of times, but just because opportunities are slim, that’s no reason to settle for less.
While employers cut 345,000 jobs in May, there were also 2.5 million job openings listed across the nation, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
To help jobseekers 16 and older find careers they love, Cecil College is hosting a free “Ready to Work” week from June 22 – 25, showcasing a host of different careers.
The week begins with a two-hour kick-off session on June 22 where local business owner Steve Gottlieb will lead self-exploratory exercises to help people understand what job is right for them.
Events on June 23 include half-hour presentations about Microsoft Certified Application Specialists, hospitality careers and administrative professional careers. The Bureau of Labor Statistics expects that 362,000 administrative professional jobs will be created by 2016.

Careers as a certified skin care specialists, construction and maintenance technician and automotive technician will be highlighted on June 24. About 110,000 new automotive technician jobs will be created by 2016, according to the BLS.
The week wraps up on June 25 with sessions on health care careers and professional truck driving. The field of professional truck driving is expected to create 258,000 new jobs by 2016, the BLS reported.
During all evenings, Cecil College will have staff on hand to discuss other jobs and possible training people should consider before embarking on a new career. Light refreshments will also be served at the beginning of each evening.
