The city of Wilmington is continuing to remove snow from neighborhoods and from the downtown and riverfront districts following last weekend's formidable storm.
City and private crews have been working on a 24-hour cycle since last Friday night to clear and remove snow from city streets, spokesman Rich Neumann said Tuesday, Dec. 22. The city asks residents for their patience and understanding as it works to clear streets as soon as is humanly possible.
Citizens who wish to report areas in need of snow removal/icing, etc. are asked to call the Department of Public Works Call Center at 576-3877, 576-3878, or 576-3879.
The storm clean-up effort has forced the City to postpone this week’s recycling collection. The collection of recyclables will resume next week (Monday east of I-95, Tuesday west of I-95).
If you fill your recyclables collection bin before next Monday or Tuesday, please do not place loose recyclables at the curb, where they can blow into the street; instead, please try to hold them aside until the city can empty your bin.
Due to the Christmas holiday, this week’s trash collection schedule is altered slightly. Collections will take place on Thursday (east of I-95) and on Saturday (west of I-95).
