Yorklyn Road Bridge to close

Maintenance should take two weeks

Yorklyn, Del. —

Yorklyn Road’s bridge over the Red Clay Creek will close 6 a.m. Tuesday August 19 for maintenance, according to the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT).

The work, which includes removing lead paint, cleaning and repainting to extend the life of the bridge, is expected to be complete September 2.

Detour route from the north: Creek Road (Route 82) to Benge Road to Meetinghouse Road to Old Wilmington Road to Yorklyn Road.

From the south: Yorklyn Road to Old Wilmington Road to Meetinghouse Road to Benge Road to Creek Road (Route 82).

When the Yorklyn Road bridge re-opens, the bridge over White Clay Creek on Chambers Rock Road will close for painting. The detour will be Route 896/New London Road to Hopkins Bridge Road to Thompson Station Road and vice versa.
