For many, it just wouldn't be Lent without a crispy plate of fried fish.
Volunteers from Hockessin's Knights of Columbus and St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church are working to ensure that, for the next 40 days, no one goes hungry on Friday night.
The annual fish fries will he held every Friday in Lent except Good Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the basement of the Old Lancaster Pike church.
This year's menu includes fried and baked fish, crab cakes, macaroni and cheese, cole slaw, fish sticks and desserts. Fish dinners cost $10, a fish and crab plate costs $12 and a plate of two crab cakes costs $13, with the proceeds benefiting St. Mary's and the Knights of Columbus' charities. Takeout is also available.
The Stations of the Cross will be held in St. Mary's sanctuary each Friday after the fish fry at 7 p.m.
