Mike Protack, who twice ran for governor and once for U.S. Senate, has thrown his hat into the ring for the Third District New Castle County Council seat next November.
Protack will look to keep the district in Republican hands, with Councilman William Tansey (R-Greenville) vacating the seat after two terms. Tansey announced he would not seek re-election at a Monday meeting of the Christiana/Mill Creek Republican Committee.
In a short, two-paragraph announcement, Protack said he looked forward to meeting with voters of the district, which includes Hockessin, Centreville and much of Greenville, over the coming year.
He said his priorities, if elected, would include:
- Basic government services delivered with value to taxpayers and recipients alike.
- Safe streets and neighborhoods.
- Promoting economic growth and sound County budget and tax policy.
- Open and transparent government at every level.
