Carper, Coons, Carney & Markell Write to Postmaster General Urging Review of Hare’s Corner Proposal

Today, Sen. Tom Carper, chairman of the Senate Subcommittee that oversees the U.S. Postal Service, along with Gov. Jack Markell, Sen. Chris Coons and Rep. John Carney (all D-Del.) wrote to United States Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe urging him to review the U.S. Postal Service’s proposal that would revamp Delaware’s only mail processing facility, causing a significant negative impact on Delaware.

County reminds dog owners to license pets

New Castle County is reminding dog owners that state law requires them that their pets need be licensed and vaccinated.

County licenses are needed for dogs six months or older as of Jan. 1 and need to be purchased by March 1.

Man 20, Charged with Raping Girl, 13

New Castle County Police have arrested Marvin Banks, a 20 year old male whose last known address was in the 900 block of North Pine Street in the City of Wilmington. He has been charged with rape in the fourth degree after he engaged in sexual relations with an acquaintance.

Possible nationwide phone ban has locals talking

The National Transportation Safety Board made a bold move Tuesday, Dec. 13, calling for a nationwide ban on cell phone use while behind the wheel.

While 35 states, including Delaware, currently ban texting while driving, the NTSB is recommending a complete ban of the non-emergency use of portable electronic devices while driving, including the use of hands-free technology.
