The public is invited to attend the Mill Creek Fire Company’s 2009 Public Safety Day at Station 21 located at 3900 Kirkwood Hwy. on Sept. 26 from 12 to 4 p.m.
For decades Mill Creek Fire Company has been promoting fire safety and prevention throughout its fire district. It is part of an ongoing effort to provide the community with information to keep them safe in their homes and businesses.
A variety of safety organizations were in attendance and Mill Creek volunteers operated their mobile fire safety house. The “safety class on wheels,” simulates a smoke filled environment where children are taught how to identify an emergency and the proper way to exit their home during a fire. The mobile unit also covers safety information for tornadoes and major storms. More than 25,000 children have experienced this life saving training.
“This is a great way for Mill Creek Fire Company to meet our neighbors and help keep them safe,” Fred Eysaldt, chief of Mill Creek Fire Company said.
Refreshments will also be served at the event. The Mill Creek Fire Company was established in 1927 and serves approximately 16,000 households and more than 1,500 businesses. The fire district covers 17 square miles. The fire company has more than 200 members and 10 full time employees.
