Wilmington, Del. —

Richard Kapolka has been named executive director of Connecting Generations, a Wilmington-based nonprofit organization that provides support programs for children and adults.

Kapolka of Middletown began leading the organization on July 1, overseeing the state’s largest training and support program for adult volunteer mentors and an in-school mentoring program.

“If we can help promote cooperation, interaction, and exchange between any two generations we will foster relationships that have the power to transform lives and strengthen the ties that bring us together,” Kapolka said.

Connecting Generations selected Kapolka after a nationwide search because of his experience as principal at elementary and high schools in the Christina and Seaford school districts.

He replaces Pamela Leland, who served as interim executive director.
