Time is running out for Delawareans to claim stimulus checks that were returned to the IRS because of an incorrect address.
Taxpayers whose check was sent to the wrong address have until Nov. 28 to provide the IRS with an updated address so the check can be mailed by Dec. 31. The IRS has received 654 returned stimulus checks from Delaware, totaling about $389,000.
Taxpayers can check the status of their check by using the “Where’s My Stimulus Payment?” tool on www.irs.gov or calling the IRS rebate hotline at 1-866-234-2942.
The IRS also has 248 regular refund checks returned for Delaware taxpayers, totaling nearly $272,000. These checks are not subject to the Nov. 28 deadline for address updates and can be reissued at any time after a new address is provided.
