Delaware's Green Energy Program offers grants to residents who install green improvements at their homes.
Who: Delmarva Power customers
What: Installing photovoltaic cells onto a residence
Maximum state grant: $31,500
Conditions: The Green Energy Program accepts applications for photovoltaic systems that do not exceed $12 per installed watt. Used or previously installed parts are not eligible for grants.
What costs qualify: Materials, labor and the required permits; grants and incentives from other organizations must be deducted from the total system cost before the grant is awarded.
Who: Delmarva Power Customers
What: Installing a geothermal heating and cooling system
Maximum state grant: $3,000
Conditions: The Green Energy Program accepts applications for open or closed loop systems and direct expansion systems that use the energy from the ground for space heating and cooling. All systems must be sized according to good heating, ventilation and air conditioning practices.
What costs qualify: All other grants and incentives must be subtracted from the total cost of the system.
Who: Delmarva Power Customers
What: Installing wind turbines on residential property
Maximum state grant: $22,500
Conditions: The Green Energy Program accepts applications for wind turbines that do not exceed $5 for each installed watt. Systems must meet the standards of the Institute for Electrical and Electronic Engineers Standards Board 929.
What costs qualify: New and unused materials like wind turbine-generator assemblies, towers, tower foundations, wiring, inverters and utility connection equipment, as well as labor costs and the costs of permits and fees.
