A new branch of TD Bank opened its doors in Hockessin on Nov. 14, offering seven-day banking hours to customers.
The branch, located on Lancaster Pike in the heart of Hockessin’s business district, has been under construction since September, 2007.
It was originally designed as a branch of Cherry Hill, N.J.-based Commerce Bank until Commerce was acquired by TD Bank of Ontario, Canada, on Oct. 2, 2007.
TD Bank had no branches in Delaware before the acquisition, but assumed control of Commerce’s nine Delaware branches, including seven in New Castle County, and four branches under-construction. The acquisition makes TD Bank the seventh largest bank in North America.
Despite the change in ownership, Bank Manager Robin Marchman said the Hockessin branch will still be open seven days a week, which was the core of Commerce’s business model.
“We are very focused on making people feel like VIPs when they walk in the door,” she said. “We’re not your typical bank.
The branch’s lobby is open Monday through Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The drive through is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
