SBA lending increases in Delaware

First quarter U.S. Small Business Administration lending in Delaware increased by 136 percent compared to the first quarter of last year.

Businesses received $7.1 million in SBA loans in the first quarter of 2010, up from $3 million for the same period last year.

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act spurred SBA lending, increasing SBA guarantees to up to 90 percent.

Since the act was signed, the Delaware SBA has approved 96 loans for $25.7 million.
