Stephan Lehm, president of Wilmington-based VanDemark & Lynch, Inc., has been named 2009 Engineer of the Year by the American Society of Civil Engineers Delaware Section.

Lehm, a graduate of the University of Delaware, has more than 37 years of engineering and surveying experience. He has been a leader with the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Council of Engineering Companies in the 1980s and 1990s, helping write position papers on the Delaware’s infrastructure needs.

His efforts brought together key leaders of professional, trade, public and community organizations, eventually resulting in the creation of the Delaware Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Committee, which has evolved into today’s Delaware Clean Water Advisory Council.
