Concord Ecovillage has acquired 7.5 acres in West Grove, Pa., where it plans to construct a 35-home, environmentally-friendly development called Three Groves Ecovillage.
The homes will be energy efficient: the entire development is expected to be zero-net-energy, gathering electric, heating and cooling requirements with onsite solar electric and geothermal systems.
The ecovillage, to be built at Prospect Avenue and State Road, will be a throwback to the walkable communities of the past, with parking around the periphery and pedestrian walkways connecting neighbors to a common house.
The equity members of the ecovillage intend to receive LEED-platinum certification.
Concord Ecovillage will continue to seek land to build an ecovillage near Newark or Kennett Square, Pa., according to a press release.
Three Groves Ecovillage will offer tours of the property 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 16 and will present the development plan to the London Grove Township Planning Commission May 27 at 7 p.m., at the London Grove Township Building, 372 Rose Hill Rd., West Grove, Pa.
