College freshman aren’t the only newcomers to Newark this fall. New eateries and entertainment venues have recently popped up along Main Street, ready to throw open their doors and draw in a fresh supply of class-cutting students.
Follow this fall semester schedule to hit all five new spots:
Course Title: Introduction to Celtic History (Catherine Rooney’s)
Course description: The iconic Trolley Square Pub is set to open its Main Street location sometime this month, according to Facebook posts. Since it’s located directly across the street from Kildare’s, patrons now have options to consider when thirsting for an Irish Car Bomb.
Location: 100 E. Main St.

Course Title: Microeconomics (Main Street Sliders)
Course description: Tiny sandwiches pack a big punch at this newly-opened restaurant, which features a wide array of sliders that won’t break the bank, at $1.10 to $1.25 a piece. The eatery also offers a variety of appetizers – from ravioli to pickles – that all have one thing in common: the deep fryer.

Course Title: Intermediate Japanese (Mizu Sushi)
Course description: This Philadelphia sushi chain recently opened its fourth location on Main Street for those hungry for more exotic tastes. Thanks to limited seating, the eatery caters to more of a takeout crowd and offers sushi staples like California rolls, spicy rolls and sashimi.

Course Title: Music Theory (Mojo Main)
Course description: The owners of Mojo 13 in Brandywine Hundred bought the East End Café after it closed its doors in March and are rebranding the 22-year-old bar as a live music hotspot. Listen for bands similar to those that frequent Mojo 13, like rock and bluegrass groups, and check out the revamped restaurant when the new venue opens, probably in September.
