Hockessin, Del. —

A forest of artificial evergreens will soon sprout up in Cokesbury Village for Delaware Hospice’s 22nd annual Festival of Trees.

This year’s festival will feature dozens of trees decorated by individuals, clubs and corporations to raise money for Delaware Hospice.

Guests who come out to enjoy the sights of evergreens tricked out in their holiday finery Nov. 21 - 23, will find that many decorators have dispensed with the stars and tinsel of traditional Christmas trees, opting instead for original items like soups cans, feather boas or tie-dyed garland. Some even go a step further, spray-painting their trees bright colors or hand-carving ornaments from blocks of cedar wood.

Festival of Trees

Nov. 21-23, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Cokesbury Village, 726 Loveville Road, Hockessin

$6 for adults, $4 for seniors and children

The event also features craft vendors, a baked sale and a Family Fun Day on Nov. 23 that includes games, crafts, entertainment and photos with Santa.

A "'Twas the Night Before" gala will be held Nov. 21  6:30 to 10 p.m. Admission is $75 a person by reservations only (1-800-838-9800).

All proceeds go to Delaware Hospice, the only nonprofit hospice in the First State. It has served 30,000 patients since its inception in 1983.
